Executive Board 2011 - 2012

Officers:

Alvera Armour, President

I was born and raised in a small community in Illinois and moved with my husband to Florida in 1959.  After raising two daughters, I enjoyed a successful business career ending as the Corporate Credit Manager of a four–company building supply conglomerate.

I currently enjoy my two grandchildren, two dogs and a cat, extensive gardening, reading, and the volunteer work that I do for the Indian Hills Homeowners Association.  I am a member of the Winter Park Garden Club, and the President of Woman's Club of Casselberry.  I have been a member of the Womans Club since January 2007.

Jessica Eckhart, Vice President

Hi there! I serve as the Vice President for the Woman's Club of Casselberry. I joined the club after I attended a Woman's Club After Hours event, invited by my neighbor Sandi Solomon. I have had such a great time getting to know these wonderful women in and around our city. These women are amazing and have so much to offer me personally. I'm 34 years old and have lived in Casselberry with my husband, Chad, for over two years. In that time we have grown to love our city and what it has to offer. My husband even helps out with some of our fundraising efforts! I'd like to be known as the woman who coined the phrase..."If you're a woman and you live in Casselberry, you need to join the Woman's Club!"

Nancy Janisz, Recording Secretary

I’ve been a member of the Woman’s Club of Casselberry for the last year and thoroughly enjoy the great company, delicious food, interesting presentations, and involvement in worthy community activities.  I have a rather varied work history, including working for the Federal Government, being employed in private practice as a psychotherapist, and working in health insurance management.  I am currently working from home as a medical transcriptionist.  I’ve been married for 33 years and live with my husband Craig and our dog Cali in nearby Oviedo.  We have three grown children and have just become grandparents for the first time!  I have found the Woman’s Club of Casselberry to be an excellent place to make new friends and experience fun and rewarding activities.  Come join us!

Kathy Hale, Treasurer

Hi, my name is Kathy Hale, I have been a member of the WCC for 10 years and I love it!!! After joining, I volunteered to be their building manager. The rich history of this beautiful building and the ladies that have made this Club what it is today, has kept me working hard at preserving this great landmark. I am now the Tresasurer, and love meeting the members and helping the community prosper.

Betty Farris, Corresponding Secretary

Hi, I’m Betty.  Born and raised in Southern Illinois, I’ve lived in Maitland for 35 years now.  I am currently retired after working for 29 years in Nursing Homes and doctor’s offices as administrative support.  Family is a top priority for me as I have 6 children, several grand children and great grand children who mostly live close by.  I have been a member of the Woman’s Club of Casselberry for 5 years now.  It is a fun group of ladies and a great way to make new friends.  My hobbies include sewing, quilting and gardening.

Standing Committees:

Carol Fildes, Historian

In our club, if you hear “Carol F” referred to, that's me since there are a couple of other Carols.

Born and raised in Atlanta, I moved to Casselberry in 1979 with my husband and newborn daughter.  I joined the club in 2009 after attending as a guest for several years.

My favorite things are having coffee with good friends, the beach, Washington D.C., history, Internet research and live theater.

As the club's historian I keep a photographic record of our club's events, from our monthly luncheons to fundraisers and even more projects.  It's a good feeling to know that you can have so much fun while you're helping others.

June Herron, Publicity

I joined the Woman's Club of Casselberry with the goals of forging new relationships, contributing to my community and as a way to use my business skills acquired in a successful 21 year manufacturing career in the micro electronics industry.

A transplant from the Cleveland, Ohio area I have lived in Casselberry for 28 years with my husband of 41 years, Ken, who is a small business owner. Our daughter, Courtney, is the Director of Development and Events for a nonprofit in Washington D.C. I graduated from UCF when it still had trailers and dirt roads and 18 years later I watched my daughter graduate there as well. I received an MBA magna cum laude from Nova Southeastern. Retirement has allowed me so many ways to contribute and play. Along with the time I spend on WCC projects I am co-chair of the Casselberry Parks and Recreation Board. I have an extensive butterfly garden, take a wide range of classes, bike, scuba dive, am committed to health and fitness, dabble in photography and love taking photo safaris in DC. We have a log cabin in Pennsylvania where I hike, fish, and ride ATV's. I love to travel and have been to Italy, Spain, and England, as a true foodie I will go anywhere I can eat. Always looking for travel companions!

 Pat Smoot, Programs

Hi, my name is Pat Smoot.  I have been a Florida resident for 32 years.  My husband, Sam, and I have been married for 48 years and I have two wonderful children and 4 beautiful grandchildren.

One of my favorite outdoor activities is gardening.  I also love being by the water and soaking up the sun.  Reading is also a favorite.

I am so happy I decided to attend bunco one Sunday!  I wouldn't have known about this club and all the wonderful members associated with it, otherwise.  I am truly impressed!

Oh yeah, I still love bunco!
